Gloucestershire Virtual BioBlitz

Help to discover what wildlife lives around Cheltenham with the Science Festival Bioblitz. A Bioblitz is an opportunity for anyone to help record the plants and animals that live in an area. Between the 5th and 7th of June Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, in partnership With the University of Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire Centre for Environmental Records and Gloucestershire Naturalists Society, will be running a Bioblitz around Cheltenham.  Whether it is a pigeon in your garden or a white-legged damselfly on the River Chelt, we want to know what wildlife you are spotting. You can submit sightings online via twitter or in person at our stand in Montpellier Gardens. Not sure what you have seen then bring along a photo or specimen for our panel of expert naturalists to identify.

We will be mapping sightings in real time, so you can see the wildlife of Cheltenham being recorded before your eyes. This will make a huge contribution to our knowledge of Cheltenham’s biodiversity, helping to inform future conservation efforts. There will also be an opportunity to learn identification skills in a series of public workshops, including moth trapping, bat surveys and small mammal tracking.
