There are plenty of surveys, that you can join in with, going on throughout the day. You don't need to be an expert biologist or have any experience, just come along, get stuck in and help us discover what species we have on our Park Campus.

 

To guarantee your place on a survey book your place using the booking system below. After booking you will receive a confirmatory email detailing your place and what to wear and bring with you. There will also be plenty of other activities for adults and families going on during the 2 days that you will not need to book onto.

Learn what is at the heart of a tree

 

experience first hand the fascinating world of what happens inside a growing tree and work with our experts to determine how old our trees are and learn how to use tree rings as a record of what whether conditions have been like each year over each tree's lifetime

Get Some Furry Friends!

 

Come along and look at some small mammals that could be hiding in our pre-set traps. Learn a little more about the little mammals living around us with some help from our naturalists before going back to the hall to identify footprints.

 

You'll have a vole lot of fun!

Dig and Splash Around!

 

Taking place in Park Campus lake, sample the water and unearth the critters hiding in the sediment underneath. There will be guides and experts to help identify anything you discover. This could include anything from mayfly larvae to crayfish.

Explore a Miniture World!

 

Come and explore the huge variety of creepy crawlies living on campus, beetles, spiders and a whole world of insects. With the help of our naturalists you can investigate this world using a range of different techniques and equipment like sweep nets, beating trays and aerial nets.

 

Get those magnifying glasses out!

A Night Time Adventure!

 

This event wil take place at dusk and is a great way to find out which bats are flying around campus using our bat detectors. This is also a chance to see some small mammal trails under UV light to see where they've been by their travel pathways.
